WWKIP project

Well today was WWKIP day (World Wide Knit in Public).

Unfortunately even though i had previously planned to attend a public event, my surgery put an end to that. Instead feeling pretty miserable i spent the day at home on the couch with my cozy blanket over my knees, a movie and a simple knitting project to complete. I was home alone as Steve had gone to Geelong to present a website proposal to a business and Miss Meg went to Grandma and Pop’s for a sleepover.

A friend of mine gave birth to a little girl recently and i decided to make her a beanie. Using a gorgeous wool from Monsoon Designs called Billabong in a 4ply i set to work. It was a very easy pattern, which was about all i could manage at present.

Here is the finished beanie modelled by our gorgeous in-house model!!

Plan to make more of these and hope to have a license to actually sell them soon.

Knitting in Public

Today I took my daughter Meg to see the Melbourne Vixens , our state netball team  play a home game at the State Netball/Hockey Centre. Meg is really enjoying her netball this year and it was a great opportunity for a Mum and daughter day out.

We went down on the bus, which provided me with the perfect opportunity to knit. I took something simple. A Jo Sharp Beanie i was knitting for myself.

Here i am on the bus knitting away ~ photo taken by Miss Meg

Knitting my beanie on the bus

Such a quick easy pattern, I actually completed the beanie before reaching home!

Here are some pictures of the final result. It is a great unisex beanie that is also able to be worn both ways; giving you two beanies in one :)

A Beanie for Meg

Posted on May 25th, 2008 in Current Projects by deb

I whipped this beanie up for Miss Meg in a day.

Meg’s beanie

It is a simple pattern from Jo Sharp Issue 3 (I think?) I used some Jo Sharp Silkroad Ultra, a bulky 12ply, that i had left over (navy colour) and then used two strands of 8ply of Harvest Pure Wool (jade colour).

These happen to be the colours of Meg’s uniform of the school she is now attending part-time, two days each week. The school she is attending is a very small school up in Strathbogie, very cold in Winter so this beanie will be well worn this winter!!
