Guiness Book World’s Longest Scarf

Today we headed up to Wangaratta to participate in a “Knit In” for the World’s Longest Scarf attempt. We met at Tread’s cafe a group of dedicated knitters, armed with knitting needles and wool we settled in for a relaxed morning of knitting.

The location was lovely and they made the best chai latte i have ever had. Genuine chai, served with a little pot of fresh honey, it was delicious. See….

This is the final stages of the Australian attempt at breaking the current record of 52km set my the Welsh in 2005. The Aussie group have been working on this for the past 5years and the cut off date is July 31st.

If you can knit you can take part. You need 4mm needles and 8ply wool. Cast on 66 stitches and knit for a length of one metre. When finished send to:

When the measuring and official part is finished the scarf will be re-sewn into blankets and given to charity organisations.
